Training has been going on for quite a while already, and the women keep raising the bar with fresh goals for the big event.
-I’m 95 and a half, so I have to keep pedaling hard if I’m going to make it another four years and hit 100. I promised one of my great-grandkids that, laughs one of the cyclists.
-I’m going to beat you this year! says Inger Johanne. - I couldn’t manage it last year.
For one of the women, this is her very first World Championship. Luckily, she’s got a strong trio at her side to cheer her on.
They all agree - competing is pure fun. And if everything goes to plan, they’ll be so fit that next year they’ll take a trip to Solgården in Spain.
- We’ll need to be in top shape, because down there we’re going to let loose!
The three of them who joined last year, are still beam with pride over both their efforts and the competition itself.
- It was so exciting, and we were so proud of ourselves at the medal ceremony that the roof almost couldn’t hold us in! the ladies laugh, already dreaming of new medals and records.
-Well, the best fun is the kind you make yourself!
